On Read
Seen
Two blue ticks
Delivered
I smile
My heart races
You saw it
I wait
And
Wait
"Asshole"
I say.
Seen
You might think you are important
I always reply right away
Faster than light
A fool I've become
Thinking you care
Seen
A few weeks later you reply
Should I celebrate?
Do I send you hearts?
Or do I give you a call?
"Idiot!"
And now I am hating myself
I hate you
Seen
You've done that before
And I've done it before
They say time will tell
I think I got the message
"Hi"
You send
Did you miss me?
Or are you guilty?
"How have you been, buddy?"
I am sorry but we are not that close anymore.
Seen
Does it hurt too?
Do you even care?
It's been awhile
I am surrounded by a desert
Your message was just a mirage
Hope for an oasis
But do you care?
Does it hurt too?
Are you waiting for my text?
Seen
I guess you've learned your lesson
"Hi"
I text
I wait
Two blue ticks
But no dots
Ha!
"You fool!"
I say to myself
"Seen! Asshole!"
I turn off my phone
This is when I get off the train.

Sometimes it hurts being left on read. Most especially if it is a person you care about the most. And at some point you won't have to keep playing that game of being left on read. Sometimes you need to get off that train that makes you almost hate yourself, jump off that train that leads nowhere.
Those who love you will never leave you on read. They will make sure to tend to you no matter what. Surround yourself with those that appreciate you.
