NB: I am trying something different. Below is a conversation in a poetic tone. I drew inspiration from a Chinese drama called Sweet Dreams. Enjoy.
RIVER OF FORGETFULNESS
Me:
Take me to the river of forgetfulness.
Fairy:
Why do you want to go there?
Me:
I want to forget those feelings
Feelings that have made me cry
Feelings that have torn my heart in pieces
Feelings that consumed me yet they yielded nothing
I want to let them go
I want to be free
Fairy:
Are you sure?
Is that what you want?
Me:
Yes, I have made my decision
I can't be consumed by anything
I can't be controlled by a person who doesn't care
I can't keep running after wind
I will only lose myself
I will end up hating myself
Fairy:
But why would you want to forget this?
Didn't you learn anything?
Such feelings are to teach you about life
Are you sure about your decision, my dear?
Me:
I have spent years in school
What I learned hasn't solved any of my problems
Why keep learning if you can't buy yourself bread with all the knowledge?
Why keep loving and caring only to be hurt?
I don't want to be a sacrifice
If this is my life, why can't I be free?
Fairy:
But you are free
You have loved who wanted
You have ate what you wanted
You have everything
Why are you crying?
Me:
Who said having things means happiness?
Why mistake needs with happiness?
The world created the needs
But it failed to create happiness
We have become slaves
And we think it is how the world is supposed to be
Fairy:
Where did you learn that?
Have you been watching those conspiracy videos?
Have they brainwashed you?
Open your eyes
This is the reality
Me:
If this is the reality
Can I have a ticket out of here?
It doesn't require another Stephen Hawking
To see that we don't need what we need now
To live is not to build houses and pay bills
Otherwise what is the meaning of life?
Fairy:
Come let me show you the world
Come on let me fly you above all houses
Let me show you what you don't know
The world is better this way
I promise you will love it
Me:
What is promise?
I don't like that word
It hurt me way too many times.
If what you want to show me won't make me forget
Then don't bother
Adding more memories to the existing ones is death
Fairy:
Even if you got to the river of forgetfulness
You will still come back to the old life
And that will be in vain
How about you accept reality
Come on let's fly
Me:
How can the world be so cruel?
Who created this life?
If I can't forget this life
Let me die of sorrow
Maybe in my next life
Things will have changed
Bye Bye
Fairy:
See you then.
